REPAIR JOURNAL
STEP 1:
My client didn't want to spend the time making this old part of the crack disappear.
STEP 2:
Replacing part of the block and about to glue in the new section of the lining.
Since the cracks were partially over the corner block and lining, I needed to take a section out of each in order to get clamps behind them.
STEP 3:
Glued in and trimmed lining and block section.
STEP 4:
Sharp edges of old varnish have been smoothed out to make blending of the new varnish/ retouching easier.
STEP 5:
Shiny overcoat to protect the color coats underneath and smooth surface out.
STEP 6:
Shiny surface dulled down to match rest of violin. DONE!
